Semapa and Secil, through its Brazilian subsidiary, entered into an agreement for the acquisition of a 50 per cent stake of the Brazilian company Supremo Cimentos. With this acquisition, the companies now indirectly hold the entire share capital of the Supreme.
"Our subsidiary of Brazilian law, NSOSPE Empreendimentos e Participações, owned jointly by Semapa and Secil - Companhia Geral de Cal and Cement entered into an agreement for the acquisition of the 50 per cent of the share capital of the Brazilian law firm Supreme Cement owned by third parties," Semapa in said a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission, adding that with" this acquisition Semapa and Secil will hold indirectly the entire share capital of the Supreme. "
The acquisition amounts to BRL290m (EUR90.9m) and is dependent on "the occurrence of a number of customary conditions for similar transactions."
Supremo Cimento is based in the south of Brazil, in the state of Santa Catarina, with an integrated clinker and cement plant in Pomerode, and concrete aggregates operations. It has just completed the construction of a new integrated clinker and cement plant in Adrianópolis, in the state of Paraná. With this new manufacturing unit in operation, which is now starting, Supremo's total installed cement capacity rises to 2Mta.
