Thailand’s Siam Cement Group (SCG) is seeking to enlarge the production of building materials in Vietnam as part of its plan to expand operation to overseas markets.
SCG aims to have its cement and building material production in Vietnam grow 40 per cent a year while the chemical and package sectors will grow by 40 and 20 per cent annually, respectively, said Dhep Vongvanich, executive director for SCG in Vietnam.
The group expected to have attention from the Vietnamese government and the Ministry of Construction to promote the production of cement, fresh concrete and building materials, the director made the statement at a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Construction Do Duc Duy in Hanoi on 9 December.
Deputy Minister Duy, on his side, affirmed that the Vietnamese government will create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including SCG, to do business in Vietnam.
Since entering the company in 1992, SCG has increased the number of subsidiaries and affiliates in Vietnam to 22 currently, mainly through mergers and acquisitions in the fields of production and trade, concrete construction products, plastic materials, paper materials, production and packaging of industrial investment.
