Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in November 2015 were about 7.3Mt, up by 12.4 per cent from the level in November 2014, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey. Shipments for the year through November totalled 84.9Mt, up by 3.4 per cent from the same period in 2014.

The leading producing states for Portland and blended cement in November were Texas, California, Missouri, Florida and Pennsylvania, in descending order and these states accounted for 41 per cent of the total shipments for the month. The leading cement-consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois, in descending order) received about 39 per cent of the November shipments.

Clinker production totalled 6.8Mt in November, down slightly from the output in November 2014. Production for the year through November was 69.6Mt, up slightly from the same period in 2014. The leading clinker-producing states in November were Texas, California, Missouri, Florida and Pennsylvania, and these accounted for almost 47 per cent of the national total for the month.

November 2015 imports of cement and clinker of about 1Mt were 31 per cent higher than those in November 2014. Imports for the year through November totalled 10.5Mt, up by nearly 34 per cent from the same period of 2014.
