According to the Tajikistan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, a new 1.2Mta cement plant will be brought into operation in the Yovon district, Khatlon province, this month.
Jung-Tsai Mohir Cement Ltd and the government of Tajikistan signed an investment agreement for the construction of the plant, with works beginning two years ago. According to an official source, the total cost of the project is US$120m.
Tajikistan’s production capacity now meets local demand and is even able to begin exporting cement to neighbouring countries. In the first half of 2016 Tajikistan exported 200,000t of cement to Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
