The Chzungtsai Mohir Cement cement plant has been officially opened by Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan, Asia Plus reports.

The 1.2Mta plant is the second to be built in Yovon district, situated about 30km southeast of the capital, Dushanbe.

Due to foreign investment into plants such as these, Tajikistan has gone from being a net importer to exporting cement. In the six months to the end of June 2016, the country produced 0.87Mt of cement, of which 0.2Mt was exported to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
