Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in August 2016 were 9.4Mt, up by 3.1 per cent from sales in August 2015.

The leading producing states for Portland and blended cement in August 2016 were Missouri, Texas, California, Florida and Michigan, in descending order, and these accounted for about 42 per cent of the national total.

The leading cement-consuming states, in descending order, were Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois, which received 36 per cent of the August shipments.

Clinker production totalled 7.1Mt in August 2016, up slightly from clinker  output in August 2015. The leading clinker-producing states in August were, in descending order, Texas, Missouri, California, Florida, and Alabama. Production for January through August totalled 50.3Mt, up slightly from the same period in 2015.

The US Geological survey (USGS) also announced significant revisions to data for April through July 2016. Sales for January through August totalled 61.6Mt, up by four per cent from the volume in the same period in 2015.

Masonry cement shipments of about 222,000t in August 2016 were up by three per cent from those in August 2015. The leading masonry cement-consuming states were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, California, North Carolina and Georgia. These received about 50 per cent of August shipments. Deliveries for January through August 2016 were 1.6Mt, up by 5.5 per cent from shipments in the same period in 2015.
