Cement prices in Senegal have been rising by XOF5000/t (US$8.93/t) in the last fortnight.
The ex-works price of 32.5-grade cement has increased from XOF50,800/t to XOF55,800/t while for 42.5-grade product the current ex-works price is XOF60,400/t, up from XOF55,400/t.
The price rises have been attributed to a new tax imposed by the Senegalese government. It follows a XOF3000/t price hike in January 2017.
