Construction of a large cement plant has begun in Almaty region, Kazakhstan. According to investors, the enterprise has a favourable location. Kerbulak district is located in the centre of the region. The main highway and the major railway line passes through the district.
Some 40ha of land will be allocated for the construction of the plant. Investment worth KZT50bn (US$145.2m) were allocated for the implementation of the Kazakh-Singapore project. The share of the foreign capital in the project totals 40 per cent.
The 1.2Mta cement plant is planned to be commissioned in 2019. The volume will be able to cover the demand of construction supplies in Almaty as well as neighbouring regions.
