Tan Thang Cement awards ABB with automation contract

Switzerland-based ABB has recently won an order to supply additional integrated digital automation and electrical equipment for Tan Thang Cement JSC’s greenfield plant project in Nghe An, Vietnam. This is a follow-up order from the initial delivery of the same from the company, which is currently under construction.

The new order includes a 110kV AIS substation with a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, telecommunications, and high-voltage primary and secondary equipment. The initial order was for an ABB Ability^TM 800xA DCS with Knowledge Manager and Expert Optimiser software, alongside basic communication and electrical system infrastructure and equipment.

"We are aiming to have the most modern cement production plant, equipped with the latest digital technology, that will help us to achieve our production and efficiency goals," said Mr Hoang Anh Tuan, general director, Tan Thang Cement. "ABB is helping us to build a strong digital foundation for the systems at our plant, to help us succeed from our first day of production."

The project is scheduled to be commissioned in late-2019, with the plant expected to produce 2Mta.
