Cement consumption in Peru reached 0.966Mt in September 2018, slipping by 0.3 per cent when compared with the year-ago period, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem.
Cement producers dispatched some 0.958Mt in September, 0.5 per cent less than in the previous-year’s period, when 0.975Mt was delivered. Cement exports reached 20,700t, down 37 per cent YoY while clinker exports improved 44 per cent to 105,000t.
Domestic output reached 0.878Mt, slightly less than the 0.897Mt in September 2017. Clinker production was up 20.4 per cent to 0.693Mt when compared with September 2017.
Domestic output was supplemented by 49,200t of cement imports, a YoY advance of 11 per cent, while clinker imports rose 106 per cent from 42,700t in September 2017 to 88,000t one year later.
Between January and September 2018, demand reached 8.155Mt, up 2.9 per cent YoY. Output from domestic cement plants reached 8.103Mt, representing a 2.7 per cent rise when compared with 9M17.
