Domestic cement sales in September rose 23 per cent YoY in September 2018 to 5.313Mt, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). MoM a decrease of two per cent was reported. Of this total, VICEM supplied 1.801Mt as a stand-alone company and an additional 1.532Mt with joint-venture companies. Other cement producers supplied 1.98Mt.
Total output from the country’s cement facilities reached 6.209Mt in September, bringing the year-to-date total to 47.534Mt.
In terms of exports, 2.758Mt of cement and clinker were exported in September 2018, representing an 80 per cent rise when compared with the year-ago period, but an eight per cent fall when compared with August. While cement exports more than doubled YoY to 0.715Mt, clinker exports saw a 69 per cent rise to 2.044Mt. For the first nine months of 2018, exports reached 23.836Mt, up 69 per cent YoY.
China and Bangladesh remained the largest export markets for clinker, followed by the Philippines at some distance. Cement was mainly exported to the Philippines with South Africa and Malaysia taking significantly smaller volumes.
