Demand for cement in Morocco has fallen 3.7 per cent YoY in 2018 to 13.287Mt, from 13.791Mt in 2017, according to data from the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism.
In December 2018 the domestic market expanded by 8.2 per cent to 1,217,378t from 1,125,388t in December 2017. The growth in demand during the last month of the year represents a recovery from the 16.6 per cent YoY drop reported in November, when 1,062,727t of cement was sold in the domestic market. In October 2018, Moroccan producers witnessed a 8.5 per cent YoY fall in consumption as off-take fell to 1,207,242t.
