Members of the Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA) of India and the federation of major trade unions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a wage pact that could raise gross pay, dearness allowance and service weightage.
Some 21 cement companies in India accounting for 60 per cent of the cement capacity authorised the CMA to negotiate with the trade unions on their behalf. The current MoU from 1 April 2018 -31 March 2022 allows INR5000/month (US$70.22) gross pay of cement employees (paid in two instalments).
