In the first nine months of 2018, cement production in Turkey decreased by 1.6 per cent compared to the previous year, reports The Turkish Cement Association (TÇMB).
Again in the January-September period of 2018, approximately 10.1 per cent of the cement produced was exported. In the 9M18 there was a decrease of two per cent in domestic sales and a 3.9 per cent decrease in cement exports.
Following the harsh winter conditions last year, temperatures in the first months of this year were unexpectedly higher than the seasonal norms, reported the TÇMB. While temperatures returned to normal in March and April, sales decreased on a monthly basis as of the end of May and as of the end of August. While production and sales continued to decline in September, the drop was less marked than in previous months.
The largest increase in domestic sales on a regional basis was experienced in the Aegean and Central Anatolia regions.
The Turkish Cement Association (TCMB) has also added two cement producers to its members. These include ARKOZ Madencilik AS and its subsidiary Agri Cimento Fabrikasi with the Doğubayazıt plant, and Soma Cement with its factory in Manisa, Turkey.
