The operation of a cement plant in Pyongyang, North Korea, has reportedly been suspended for three months due to lack of electricity, according to the Daily NK newspaper.

The paper’s source noted that factory may have been affected by the North Korean authorities' decision to ration electricity due to a power shortage. As the factory was built in 1919, its technology has aged and is not able to produce as much cement as it used to. The source stated that the lack of good-quality cement production may have affected Pyongyang's decision to exclude it from its key business units, leading to the rationing of its power supply.
