On Saturday, 3 August, Empresa Pública Productiva de Cementos de Bolivia (ECEBOL) inaugurated its new Oruro plant in presence of Evo Morales, Bolivia’s president.
“The cement factory we have, is the most modern in South America, is in Caracollo; a huge satisfaction" and "our cement factory is inaugurated, an expected dream maybe 50 or 60 years in the department of Oruro," said the President Evo Morales in a rally that accompanied the delivery of the plant of ECEBOL.
The 1.3Mta cement production facility represents a US$306.m investment by the country’s government, explained Mr Morales.
Located in Jeruyo, Caracollo, the plant will be supplied with raw materials from a quarry in Caracollo Norte, which has a supply for more than 90 years.
The construction and implementation of the factory was carried out by the German Spanish consortium Asociación Accidental Polysius-Vloriza Asociadas, through a turnkey contract.
