Turkey’s Sonmez Cimento Yapi ve Madencilik has signed a turnkey EPC contract with CTP Team (Italy) for a WHR unit at its Sonmez Cement plant. The system will have a duel-loop configuration and recover heat from the preheater and clinker cooler, according to a press release.
Including a 7.8MW turbine operating at 3000rpm alongside a turbo generator, the new ORC system is expected to provide a net power generation of 51mkWh per year. Therefore, covering approximately 30 per cent of the plant’s electricity needs.
The unit will reduce CO2 emissions by 23,500tpa, as well as eradicate the need for a water supply. The company will also design a fully automatic system for operation, with the entire project scheduled to begin operations with the 1H20.
