Colombian market expands 4% in June

Domestic dispatches in Colombia advanced by 3.8 per cent from 0.943Mt in June 2018 to 0.979Mt in June 2019, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office.

Bolívar and Meta saw deliveries rise by 31-32 per cent YoY, while Valle del Cauca’s market expanded by 25.1 per cent. Casanare noted 12.6 per cent higher sales and both Antioquia and Santander saw dispatches up by 8.2 per cent when compared with June 2018. Smaller gains were noted by Córdoba (7.9 per cent), Huila (5.8 per cent), Cesar (4.8 per cent) and Norte de Santander (4.7 per cent). In all other regions, the market contracted although in Bogotá cement sales remained level. Cundinamarca noted a 7.6 per cent drop.

Output from Colombian cement plants increased to 1.026Mt in June 2019, up 3.5 per cent from 0.991Mt in the year-ago period.

In the first half of 2019 domestic deliveries increased 2.5 per cent YoY to 5.951Mt while in terms of output, 6.168Mt of cement were produced, a rise of 3.5 per cent YoY.
