Gebr Pfeiffer has been awarded a contract by Swecem AB, part of the Peab corporate group, one of northern Europe’s leading construction companies, for the supply and construction of a complete granulated blastfurnace slag (GBS) grinding plant with a mill type MVR 2500 C-4. The plant is in Oxelösund, located on the eastern coast of southern Sweden.
Swecem AB operates in the field of cementitious materials for concrete production and intends to produce its own environmentally-friendly cement. The contract includes the supply and installation from the top of the foundation up. It comprises the complete process equipment, electrical equipment and automation system as well as the complete building on EPC basis.
The throughput of the Gebr Pfeiffer mill with its four equal-sized grinding rollers and a table diameter of 2.5m amounts to 25tph slag powder (dry-base). The mill is driven by a 750kW electric motor. The start of operation is planned for the spring of 2020.
"The success of having sold numerous MVR mills for cement and slag grinding and the experience gained in the field of medium-scale cement and slag grinding vertical roller mills were decisive reasons for Swecem AB to select Gebr. Pfeiffer’s proven vertical roller mill, said Ludwig Zetterström, CEO Swecem AB.
"This order once again demonstrates Gebr Pfeiffer's capabilities and competences of delivering full scope systems. Furthermore, Gebr Pfeiffer's core competence in grinding technology and corresponding services are constantly being improved and further developed. In this instance, Gebr Pfeiffer offers a service agreement, starting from mechanical inspection via process optimisation up to replacement of main wear parts."
