Argentine cement consumption fell 8.8 per cent YoY to 948,930t in October 2019, from 1,040,317t in October 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with September 2019, demand edged up by 1.1 per cent from 938,994t. All cement was supplied by domestic producers as imports remained at zero. In October 2018 the country imported 120t.
Total output in October 2019 declined 8.5 per cent YoY to 958,949t from 1,048,477t in the year-ago period although MoM there was a 1.1 per cent pick-up following 948,228t in September 2019. Of this total, Argentine producers exported 10,019t of cement, representing a 21 per cent advance YoY from 8280t in October 2018 and a 8.5 per cent rise from 9234t in the previous month.
January-October 2019
In the first 10 months of the year, the Argentine cement market contracted by 6.3 per cent YoY to 9.398Mt from 10.033Mt in the 10M18. No imports have been reported.
Domestic producers supplied 9.475Mt between January-October 2019, representing a YoY drop of 5.5 per cent. Of this total 76,481t was exported, a 26.6 per cent advance when compared with exports of 60,411t in the 10M18.
