Diamond Cement Mali has awarded the contract to produce its cement bags to the new Société Malienne de Cartonnerie (SCS MDC). The contract was signed on 6 December by Prasad Motaparti, CEO of Diamond Cement Mali and Moussa Silvain Diakité, CEO of MDC.
Under the contract, the bag manufacturer will produce more than 20m cement bags to pack the cement producer’s entire output, estimated at 1Mta.
"This is our first big contract. From the first quarter of next year, we will start with the delivery. All bags will be manufactured in our Kamalé plant, 35 km from Bamako,” said Mr Diakité.
Mr Motaparti said he was pleased with the opening of a paper mill in Mali, which is facilitating access to quality packaging while reducing the cost of production. "We are committed to promoting Made in Mali. Our desire is to help local production and promote the growth of Malian companies and employment in this country," said the CEO of Diamond Cement Mali.
