Grey cement consumption in Colombia declined by 4.2 per cent in November 2022 to 1.118Mt from 1.167Mt in November 2021, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. While bulk dispatches increased by 3.7 per cent, bagged cement deliveries were down 7.7 per cent YoY in November 2022.

Sales to the ready-mix concrete sector increased by 19.4 per cent YoY while retail sales were up by 1.2 per cent YoY in November 2022. However, construction companies and contractors reduced their off take by 12.2 per cent.

Domestic grey cement production slipped 0.6 per cent YoY to 1.194Mt in November 2022 from 1.201Mt.

In the first 11 months of 2022 dispatches in the country advanced by four per cent to 12.383Mt from 11.906Mt in the year-ago period. Bulk cement sales increased by 10.8 per cent and bagged cement sales edged up by one per cent.

Ready-mix concrete companies led the market growth with sales in this market segment up by 18.5 per cent YoY in the 11M22. However, sales to construction companies and contractors fell by 0.8 per cent YoY. The retail sector saw sales edge up by 0.8 per cent in the 11M22.

Production of grey cement saw a 6.4 per cent increase to 13.33Mt in the January-November period when compared with 12.26Mt in the year-ago period.
