Peru’s cement dispatches reached 1.092Mt in December 2022, representing a six per cent decline YoY from 1.159Mt, according to the country’s cement assocation, Asocem. Of this total, 1.054Mt were dispatched in December 2022 by Asocem members.

Cement production edged down three per cent YoY to 1.087Mt while clinker output slipped by one per cent to 0.913Mt YoY in December 2022. In December 2021 cement and clinker output reached 1.122Mt and 0.925Mt, respectively.

External trade
In addition to domestic supply, 7000t of cement was imported, down 92 per cent YoY from 90,000t in December 2021. Vietnam accounted for 3600t, or 53 per cent, while Chile, with 3200t of imports, accounted for 47 per cent, in December 2022. There were no clinker imports in December 2022, unlike in the year-ago period, when 41,000t were imported.

Cement exports fell by 43 per cent YoY from 27,000t in December 2021 to 16,000t. Clinker exports decreased by 34 per cent from 51,000t in December 2021 to 34,000t in December 2022.
