Bangladesh recorded 27 per cent YoY negative growth in cement export revenue to US$6.62m in the first six months of FY24-25 (July-December 2024) from US$9.07m in the same corresponding months of the previous year, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). This figure includes minor amounts of salt, stone, and related products. In December 2024 alone, Bangladesh’s cement industry earned an export revenue of US$1.46m, compared to US$1.99m in the same month last year. This translates into a decline of 26.6 per cent YoY.
Bangladesh’s cement export revenue was US$18.42m in FY23-24, up from US$13.66 m in FY22-23. Most cement exports from Bangladesh are shipped to India, particularly from the northeastern states. Other popular destinations include Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
In the 6MFY24-25 Bangladesh’s total export revenue for all merchandise was US$24.53bn, a 12.8 per cent YoY increase.
