Iranian domestic cement sales contracted a notable 16.5 per cent YoY to 5.520Mt in November, down from 6.610Mt a year earlier, according to the Iranian cement association.
Producers manufactured 6.524Mt of cement a 1.8 per cent YoY increase, while clinker production shrank 9.8 per cent YoY to 6.279Mt.
Cement exports rose 6.1 per cent YoY to 562,334t, while clinker exports dropped 47.2 per cent YoY to 369,426t.
January-November 2024
In January-November 2024, cement consumption in Iran contracted 3.4 per cent to 59.000Mt, down from 61.090Mt in the same period of 2023.
Cement production totalled 64.339Mt, up one per cent YoY from 63.680Mt in January-November 2023. Clinker production was 65.751Mt, down 4.2 per cent YoY from 68.610Mt.
Cumulative cement exports amounted to 5.484Mt in the 11M24, up 21.1 per cent YoY from 4.527Mt, while clinker exports were down 23 per cent YoY to 6.236Mt from 8.101Mt.
Iran is the fourth most important clinker exporter globally, after Vietnam, the UAE and Indonesia. However, key markets Kuwait, India, Bangladesh and Oman have reduced their demand for Iranian clinker in recent years.
