Cement sales in Senegal declined by 5.4 per cent to 603,400t in December 2024 from 638,100t in December 2023, according to data published by Senegal’s Planning and Economic Policy Directorate. Cement production by local cement plants was down 9.4 per cent YoY to 767,900t in the final month of 2024 when compared with 847,300t in December 2023. In addition to supplying the domestic market, Senegal’s cement producers exported 125,300t in December 2024, down 41.2 per cent from 213,100t in December 2023.
Full-year 2024 volumes
In 2024 cement dispatches in Senegal picked up by 0.4 per cent YoY to 7.073Mt from 7.044Mt in 2023. Domestic output slipped by 0.1 per cent YoY to 9.006Mt from 9.017Mt in 2023. Exports from Senegal were down 4.5 per cent YoY to 1.898Mt in 2024 from 1.988Mt in 2023.
