Italian cement output saw robust growth of seven per cent in December 2024 when compared with December 2023, according to the latest data from Italian concrete association, Federbeton. This follows a seven per cent YoY expansion in November.
The cement price index reached 164 when compared with the 2021 baseline as prices edged up by one per cent YoY in December 2025.
Import and export data, which lag production data, show cement imports up 15 per cent YoY to 217,185t in November, sold at a value of EUR18.283m. The CIF price per tonne slipped to EUR84 from EUR85 in the previous month.
Exports declined by three per cent YoY to 122,579t, representing a total value of EUR12.651m. The FOB price per tonne improved significantly to EUR103 from EUR94/t in the previous month.
January-November 2024 external trade
In the January-November 2024 period, imports reached 2.146Mt, up by 24.4 per cent YoY from 1.725Mt in the equivalent period of the previous year.
Exports shrank by 2.2 per cent to 1.443Mt in the January-November 2024 period from 1.475Mt in the January-November 2023 period.
