Burkina Faso President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, inaugurated the Sino-Burkinabè Industrial Cement Co (CISINOB SA) in Laongo, Ziniaré commune.
Located on a 12.5ha site, the 0.75Mta plant represent an investment of XOF26bn (US$42.9m) with an option to increase the investment to XOF75bn. It creates 110 permanent jobs and 300 seasonal jobs.
Zhang Bing, deputy general manager of CISINOB, said that in the long term, the plant will be able to produce 1.2Mta and create 1300 jobs.
"This ambitious project by CISINOB SA demonstrates our commitment to the economic and social development of Burkina Faso. "Thanks to cutting-edge technologies and a qualified team, we produce superior-quality cement while minimising our impact on the environment," he stated.
He added that the plant will aim to reduce its carbon footprint by using renewable energy and regularly recycle used cement bags.
He also noted that CISINOB SA is a subsidiary of Crewell International DMCC, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. "It has chosen to implement 100% Chinese cement production technology by leveraging local raw materials and integrating a packaging production line."
"This plant, whose production will consolidate existing production, is perfectly in line with our vision of sustainable endogenous development," said Captain Ibrahim Traoré. "It offers job opportunities while significantly contributing to the revitalisation of the national economy," he added. He congratulated the CISINOB promoters who worked to bring this major project to fruition, despite various attempts to dissuade them.
