Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the US and Puerto Rico amounted to 5.729Mt in January, down 3.1 per cent YoY from the 5.914Mt recorded in January 2024.

Excluding for sales to Puerto Rico and overseas territories, cement consumption in the US was 2.7 per cent lower YoY in January, coming in at 5.64Mt, compared to 5.796Mt a year earlier. The key consuming states were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Arizona and Georgia. 

The key producing states for Portland and blended cement were, in descending order, Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Alabama.
 
Masonry cement shipments were down 8.7 per cent YoY to 150,267t, with Florida being the leading producer.
 
Clinker production, excluding Puerto Rico, saw a 10.7 per cent YoY decline in the first month of 2025 to 4.274Mt.

Imports of cement and clinker amounted to 1.512Mt in January, down 17.8 per cent YoY while imported clinker saw a 2.1 per cent YoY uptick to 43,000t.
