The Puerto Rican cement market contracted 3.1 per cent to 58,328t in October 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to the country’s statistics institute. Algeria exports to Dominican Republic

Algeria-based Société des Ciments de Aïn El Kebira (SCAEK), part of the GICA Group, has exported 40,000t of clinker to the Dominican Republic, reports L’Expression. GICA has exported some 550,000t of clinker since the start of the year to African and South American countries, including Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Peru and Brazil, according to GICA.

Mexico’s Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) reported a 6.8 per cent YoY decline in consolidated net sales to US$281.1m for the third quarter of 2020, compared with US$301.7m in the 3Q19. The fall was primarily due to decreased cement volumes in the US, concrete volumes in Mexico and the depreciation of the Mexican peso, according to its earnings report.
