Unacem to invest US$300m to reduce its carbon footprint by 2030

Peru-based Unacem Group has published its Corporate Roadmap to 2030, setting a carbon emissions target of 1500kg of CO 2 /t of cement by 2030 in all its operations, representing a reduction from 607kg, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve the target the company is investing US$300m by 2030. In 2023 the company achieved a reduction of 5kg of CO 2 /to of cement and has set a total reduction target of 6kg for 2024. Ecuador completes first cement export contract

Ecuador has exported cement for the first time, delivering 32,660 to of cement in 16,330 Bigbags to Peru, according to a local news service. The consignment was supplied at the end of April to position Holcim Ecuador as bulk cement exporter in Latin America and diversify its export value offer. The shipment was made possible by an investment of US$2.2m to expand infrastructure and implement the project.

Holcim Ecuador receives carbon-neutrality certificate

Holcim Ecuador has received a carbon-neutral certificate for its Holcim Agrovial and Base Vial products by environmental consultant Sambito. When compared with traditional products, Holcim Base Vial reduces CO 2 emissions by 54 per cent while Holcim Agrovial lowers CO 2 emissions by 54 per cent per kilometre of road built.

FCT wins raw material drying order in Ecuador

FCT Combustion will supply a complete raw material drying system to Cemento Chimborazo, Ecuador. The project consists of a 41.2tph Triplex drier and a fluidised bed combustion system for petcoke and alternative fuel firing.

Unacem acquires Hormigonera Quito

Peru-based Unacem has bought a 100 per cent stake in concrete producer Hormigonera Quito of Ecuador. Hormigonera Quito operates two industrial plants - one north of Quito on a 16,000m 2 site and another one to the south on a 22,000m 2 plot. The concrete manufacturer was established in 1984 and is part of the American Concrete Institute, the Ecuadorian Chamber of Construction and Industry Chamber.
