The production process relies on the chemical reaction between clay and limestone due to activators. Construction work has commenced with pellet production due to start in July 2019. From start-up the plant will employee more than 30 full time personnel. Cemex invests US$320m in solar energy19 November 2018, Published under Cement NewsCemex will invest US$320m in a solar farm in Zacatecas, Mexico. The solar power plant will have a capacity of 378MW. “At cement we bring different projects and we do not rule out starting other solar farms,” said Beatriz Padilla García, business development consultant of Cemex’s energy arm. Hpa-an plants come under public pressure for using coal12 November 2018, Published under Cement NewsLocal residents of Hpa-an, Kiyan state, Myanmar, have called on the government to monitor local cement plants that have switched from using natural gas to coal-fired kilns. The two local cement plants in Hpa-an produce 4900tpd and are now 20 years old. Local residents met on 10 November 2018 to urge the authorities to stop the operations of the factories.
