Cemex UK has been granted a permit for a trial by the cement industry regulator, the Environment Agency (EA), to increase the use of tyres from 12 to 25 per cent as part-replacement for coal to heat the cement kiln at Rugby Works in Warwickshire. Italy Italcementi, Egypt Sign MoU on Wind Farm Construction

Italcementi SpA has signed through its Italgen unit a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity & Energy for the possible construction of a wind power plant in the Gabal El Zeit, on the Red Sea coast,  Italcementi said in a statement.     According to the MoU, the Italian group will study the feasibility of the construction of a wind farm with a 400MW capacity. The European Commission will consider officially Bulgaria’s arguments in favour of increasing the carbon dioxide (CO2) emission allowances for 2007 and the 2008-2012 trading period, the press centre of the Ministry of Environment and Water said on Thursday. Siam City Cement Plc (SCCC) is looking to reduce its energy costs by having EcoSiam, its waste management unit, expand its waste-treatment facilities, according to EcoSiam general manager Ghassan Broummana, the Bangkok Post reports. The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has settled its enforcement action against  Ash Grove Cement Company in Helena for violations of the Montana Clean Air Act.
