Maadesh Cements plans cement grinding unit in Tamil Nadu

India-based Maadesh Cements is planning the two-phase construction of a 300tpd cement grinding unit in Kattur village, Vellore district, Tamil Nadu. The first phase will see the building of a 100tpd plant. To build the works the company has acquired a 1.57ha plot of land and estimates the project cost at INR50m (US$721,175). UltraTech clinker grinding project to start in October

UltraTech Cement is preparing to set up a 3Mta clinker grinding unit in Cuttack district, Odisha, India. The INR5.59bn project,which will be funded through a bank loan, will be located on a 36.4ha site. It is expected to provide employment to 120 people. The company has received environmental clearance for the project, which is expected to start by October 2019.

India’s Ambuja Cement Ltd (LafargeHolcim) has announced its stand-alone results for the 1Q19, recording a 57 per cent YoY increase in net profit after tax to INR4.27bn (US$61.4m) from INR2.72bn. QNCC looks to export 3Mta of clinker to Africa, Asia and Kuwait

Qatar National Cement Co (QNCC) is now looking to export as much as 3Mta of clinker, particularly focussing on markets in Africa, Asia (including India) and Kuwait. ACC shows 38% growth in profit for the 1Q19

India's ACC (LafargeHolcim group) has reported a 38 per cent YoY increase in profit after tax to INR3.46bn (US$49.51m) in the 1Q19, compared with INR2.5bn of the year-ago period. Total income advanced 11 per cent in the first quarter to INR40.76bn from INR36.72bn. Net sales also rose by eight per cent to INR38.50bn against INR35.57bn in the 1Q18. India’s UltraTech Cement (Aditya Birla Group) has reported a 9.6 per cent YoY increase in consolidated profit after tax to INR24.35bn (US$347.6m) for the year ended 31 March 2019. Shiva Cement announces net loss in the 4QFY18-19

India’s Shiva Cement has reported a net loss of INR51.2m (US$732,110) for the quarter ended March 2019, against a net profit of INR24.1m during the year-ago period. Sales declined 5.6 per cent YoY to INR84.2m from INR89.2m. For FY18-19, the company’s net loss narrowed to INR212.6m from INR310.9m. Meanwhile, sales increased 16.3 per cent to INR293.8m in the full-year period, compared with INR252.6m of the previous financial year.

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has added cement companies from India, China, Peru and Mexico to its growing global membership base which now totals 36 member companies and 15 affiliates.
