KHD signs EP contract with India's ACC

Regional subsidiaries of KHD Humboldt Wedag have signed an EP contract with India's ACC Ltd (LafargeHolcim) for the engineering, supply of equipment and supervisory services related to the erection and commissioning of a raw meal grinding unit and a pyroprocessing line. Andhra Pradesh producers to reduce prices for government projects

Cement companies based in Andhra Pradesh, India, have decided to reduce cement prices for government projects following a request from the state’s Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Damani family, one of India’s wealthiest, further increased their stake in India Cements from 11.98 per cent to 16 per cent through open market transactions on 16 March. This follows the family boosting their stake from 7.27 per cent to 11.98 per cent on 26 February 2020.

CCI to meet cement demand for new hydropower project

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) to meet the cement requirements for its 2880MW Dibang Multipurpose Project. The project, once installed, would be the country's largest dam. CCI has announced plans to install a clinker grinding unit near the project area, which would fulfil the cement requirements of the project and also generate employment opportunities.

Sagar Cements records 8% YoY fall in production

India’s Sagar Cements has seen its standalone cement production fall 7.9 per cent to 207,860t in February 2020, compared to 225,751t in the year-ago period. Consolidated cement production was also down 3.6 per cent YoY to 287,833t from 298,540t. The company's standalone cement sales for the month declined 2.6 per cent YoY to 212,002t from 217,540t in February 2019. However, consolidated cement sales increased 2.4 per cent YoY to 294,518t from 287,512t.

JSW Cement launches Jajpur grinding plant

Mancherial Cement Company (MCC), formerly known as Associated Cement Companies (ACC), one of the oldest cement manufacturers in south India, is on the verge of closure, reports Telangana Today. Owing to its weak economic condition, the existing management of the plant is struggling to pay power bills and to clear loans availed from various banks. India’s Ambuja Cement (LafargeHolcim) has reported a 47.6 per cent YoY decline in consolidated net profit to INR7.22bn (US$100.4m) for the December 2019 quarter, against INR13.78bn in the year-ago period.
