JK Cement expands capacity to support sales volume

JK Cement is increasing capacity by 3Mta through two split-grinding units of 1.5Mta each in Haryana and Rajasthan in the northern region, lifting its grey cement capacity to 10.5Mta. India’s JK Cement reports 55% drop in 1QFY13-14FY

JK Cement reported a 55 per cent drop in its net profit at INR310m (US$5.22m) for the quarter ended 30 June 2013 as a result of lower realisation and higher input costs. In the corresponding quarter of the previous year, the company had posted a profit of INR690m. Total income from operations also fell 10 per cent from INR7.37bn to INR6.61bn.  EBITDA margins contracted from 21.47 per cent to 15.55 per cent.

JK Cement has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Madhya Pradesh to set up a cement plant in the Panna district of the central Indian state. India’s JK Cement has started construction of a white cement plant in the UAE, the completion of which could make it a top five player in the niche market of white cement. The company’s vice president N.
