Cement deliveries in Morocco down 9% in November

Cement deliveries by members of Morocco’s cement association, APC, ( Asment Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc ) were down 9.4 per cent YoY to 1,112,013t in November 2022, according to the cement association. In the January-November 2022 period dispatches were down by 9.2 per cent to 11.544Mt when compared with the 12.719Mt dispatched in the 11M21.

Mondi opens Moroccan paper bagging factory

France-based Vicat SA has increased its stake in Egypt’s Sinai Cement from 51 per cent to 67 per cent. According to Reuters, Vicat bought additional shares worth US$5.65m from separate investors on 13 December 2022. Egypt’s Arabian Cement Company has reported revenue of EGP3333.9m (US$135.9m) in the first nine months of 2022, up from EGP1568.1m in the same period a year earlier. Profit after tax in the 9M22 came in at EGP244.7m, compared to a loss of EGP24.5m in the first nine months of 2021. Arabian Cement Co (ACC) has announced the signing of an amendment to its 2019 contract with Amarenco SolarizEgypt (ASE) to establish a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) plant at its Suez facility. Cement deliveries by APC members in Morocco declined by 16.4 per cent YoY to 1,048,975t in October 2022 from 1,254,798t in October 2021, according to the Moroccan cement association, APC. The association’s members include Asment Temara, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. In the first 10 months of 2022, deliveries were down 9.2 per cent YoY to 10.432Mt from 11.491Mt in the 10M21.

Morocco sees deliveries decline 16% in September

Members of Morocco’s cement association, APC, have seen their total cement deliveries decrease by 15.8 per cent to 1,174,683t in September 2022, according to IPSOS data. In September 2021 deliveries reached 1,395,542t. In the January-September 2022 deliveries declined by 8.3 per cent YoY to 9.383Mt from 10.237Mt in the 9M21. APC members supplying delivery data include Asment de Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc .

Carthage Cement reports 10% increase in 9M turnover

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement posted a turnover of TND262m (US$8.2m) at the end of September 2022, compared to TND239m in the 9M21, representing an increase of 10 per cent YoY, according to African Manager. The company attributes the rise in turnover to a 25 per cent hike in export revenues and a seven per cent advance in domestic sales.
