Eagle posts flat 2Q earnings

Eagle Cement Corp of the Philippines reported a one per cent rise in earnings for the second quarter of this year as wet weather affected results. Net profit edged ahead to PHP1.9bn (US$37.5m) during the quarter versus PHP1.03bn a year ago, while net sales increased by six per cent to PHP3.71bn. Holcim Indonesia reported a 10 per cent decline in sales to IDR4288bn in the first half of 2017 due to “tough market conditions exacerbated by the timing of Ramadan,” the company said in a statement. LafargeHolcim is accelerating its efforts on biodiversity conservation and has signed an agreement with Fauna & Flora International (FFI), a leading NGO focussed on biodiversity. Vietnam output up 8.1%

Vietnam produced 33.6Mt of cement in the first five months of this year, up 8.1 per cent from a year earlier, including 7.7Mt in May, up 12.1 per cent, according to latest data of the government-run General Statistics Office. In the first four months, Vietnamese cement producers manufactured 25.9Mt of cement, according to the office’s revised figure.
