Norway’s ocean freight derivatives exchange Imarex NOS said its trading volumes surged 62 percent year-on-year to a record $3.8 billion in the third quarter, helped by a strong market for dry bulk transport. India’s second-biggest cement producer, said on Wednesday its September shipments rose 10.7 percent to 1.55Mt from 1.40Mt a year earlier. The Mumbai-based company, in which Holcim controls about 41 per cent, said production in the month was 1.55Mt, up from 1.36Mt a year ago.

Bamburi Cement says a fire at the firm’s plant did not affect production. A statement from the firm said supply would not be affected as the fire only affected a section of the factory, which was under maintenance. Ambuja Sept cement shipments down

Ambuja Cements, India’s third-largest cement maker, said on Wednesday its September shipments fell 4.2 percent to 1.29Mt from 1.34Mt a year earlier. Production fell an annual 4.6 percent to 1.27Mt, the company said in a statement. Swiss cement maker Holcim owns more than 36 percent of Ambuja Cements and has said it would launch an open offer to buy another 20 per cent.
