Aliénor Ciments awarded first NF Hydraulic Binder certification

Less than a year after commissioning its cement plant at Tonneins, Aliénor Ciments has been awarded its first NF Hydraulic Binder certification. The certification relates to its CEM I 52.5 R CE CP2 NF product. The certification attests that the cement complies with the standards and additional requirements by Afnor Certification and allows the Cem’In’Eu subsidiary to display the NF mark on the packaging of the company’s relevant products and transport vehicles.

Vessel released to off-load clinker in Bangladesh

The Egyptian flag cargo vessel "Wadi Feran" laden with 50,141t of imported clinker, which was arrested at the outer anchorage of Chittagong in Bangladesh on 26 May, as per orders of the local High Court in a litigation, was finally released on Friday. The vessel had arrived on 8 May and later successfully offloaded cargo imported by local cement manufacturers.

Cement importers deny activities hurt Philippine cement producers

Cement importers have rejected claims by local manufacturers that the import surge on cement is causing "serious injury" to the domestic industry. Dominican Republic exports US$72.3m of cement in 2018

The Dominican Republic exported Portland cement to the value of US$72.3m in 2018, according to the country’s Director of General Direction of Mining, Alexander Medina Herasme. The country produces cement in four clinker and two grinding plants with a combined capacity of 7.15Mt. It is the Caribbean’s largest cement and clinker exporter, accounting for around two-thirds of the region’s cement exports.

Vietnamese cement exporters are starting to take significant market share in China as they succeed in undercutting domestic producers. Armenia's parliament has approved a 14,000/t duty to be set on imported cement from Iran. A total of 85 law makers voted in favour of the duty with 16 voting against and three abstaining. Mr V Sivarajan, president of the Builders' Association of India (BAI)'s Coimbatore branch, has hit out against recent price rises established by India's cement sector.
