Ukraine production rises 4% in March

Cement production in the Ukraine in March 2012 grew by 7% compared to March 2011 to 620,000t, the country’s state statistics service has said. Cement output in the January-March 2012 period came to 1.28Mt, which is 3.5% up YoY. Last year, cement production rose 11.2% compared to 2010, to 10.52Mt. Ukrainian producer, Podilskyi Tsement, has reported loss of UAH9.67m (US$0.9m) for 2011 but the domestic construction sector is showing signs of a reversal in fortunes.
