Russia: demand set to fall by up to 12% in 2016

Demand for cement in Russia may drop 10-12 per cent in 2016, according to a representative of Moscow-based Eurocement Group. Ukraine: cement production in May rises 6.7%

Ukraine's State Statistics Service reports that in May 2016, production increased by 6.7 per cent compared to April. For the period January-May 2016 cement production increased by 11.4 per cent against January-May 2015 to 3.24Mt. Moldova applies quota on cement imports from Ukraine

The government of Moldova has introduced protective quotas and duties on several commodities including cement produced in Ukraine. The resolution of the Moldovan government said products will be limited with quotas, while goods imported in excess of the restrictions will have protective duties applied. Ukraine: Yugcement reports 1Q16 losses of US$11.75m

The Yugcement company (Olshanske, Mykolaiv region) reported loss of UAH298.228m (US$11.75m) for 2015, having upped its net revenue by 14.8 per cent or UAH 80.84m YoY to UAH626.167m. As of 2015, assets of the company made up UAH833.98m, current liabilities UAH162.838m and accounts receivable UAH21.336m. Yugcement  cement is a part of the Dyckerhoff Ukraine company managing three plants for cement production and packaging in Ukraine.

Ukraine: Volyn Cement posts 2015 rise in net revenue, but loss deepens

Volyn Cement, one of the top-three producers in Ukraine, posted a 23 per cent rise in net revenue from UAH754.892m (US$29.46m) in 2014 to UAH860.352 in 2015. However, the company reported a loss of UAH504.262m in 2015. In 2014 Volyn Cement reported a loss of UAH455.553m, having increased its net revenue by 12.06 per cent or UAH81.253m YoY to UAH754.892m.

Ukraine: Pushka Cement reports UAH5.8m loss in 2015

Kramatorsk-based Pushka Cement Plant in the Donetsk region of Ukraine has preliminarily reported loss of UAH5.835m (US$219,364) for 2015. The Eurocement Ukraine subsidiary reported a loss of UAH17.178m in 2014. The assets of the company made up UAH 70.195m, receivables UAH 53.927m and current liabilities UAH 0.111m.

HeidelbergCement Ukraine appoints Thiede as board chairperson

HeidelbergCement Ukraine, has appointed Silvio Thiede as chairperson of the board, the company said in a statement published by the Ukrainian News Agency. On 4 January the supervisory board of the company elected Thiede for the period of 11 January 2016-11 January 2019. Ukrainian News earlier reported that on 14 April 2015, the stockholders of HeidelbergCement Ukraine decided to close down the Dnipropetrovsk office and Amrosiivka branches (Donetsk region).

In an extraordinary meeting on 16 July the shareholders of Yugcement (formerly Olshansky cement plant, Mykolaiv region – part of the Dyckerhoff Group) re-elected Paola Zelano to chair its supervisory board for three years, the company said in the press release. Volyn Cement has reelected Paolo Zelano to chair its supervisory board for three years, the company said in a press release. In addition, the shareholders replaced supervisory board member Plack Heiko Otto with Karl Heinz Paul Richard Kasch for three years. Buzzi Unicem’s Dyckerhoff subsidiary operates the Volyn works which is situated at Rivne in the west.

Buzzi Unicem returns to a net profit

On a turnover just 0.1 per cent lower at EUR2506.4m, Buzzi Unicem's underlying EBITDA did increase by 7.1 per cent to EUR404.8m in 2014, while at the headline level there was a 4.8 per cent advance to EUR422.7m.
