Uzbekistan records 6% fall in production in 1H18

Uzbekistan has recorded a 5.8 per cent YoY fall in cement production in the first half of 2018, decreasing to 3.95Mt from 4.20Mt in the year-ago period. Depending on the region of sale, both Kizilkumcement JSC and Bekabadcement JSC have set cement prices in the region of UZS430,000-490,000/t (US$55-62/t). Akhangarancement records production increase in May

Uzbekistan-based Akhangarancement has announced an increase in cement production for May 2018. The producer recorded a 2.7 per cent YoY increase to 175,024t in May, according to Uzbekistan Daily. The volume of clinker production also increased by 838t to 130,060t for the period. Plant maintenance which began in November 2017 was also successfully completed in May, including repairs to the rotary kilns and cement and raw mills by company personnel.

The foundation ceremony for Popcement, an Uzbek-Chinese-Arab joint venture was held in Sherabad, Namangan region, Uzbekistan. The project represents an investment of US$50m. The government of Uzbekistan has approved a balance of production and consumption of cement for 2018. The country plans to produce 9.198Mt of cement in 2018, with Uzstroymateriali to produce 7.775Mt. Kuvaysaycement JSC saw its revenues increase by 3.4 per cent in the first nine months of 2017 to UZS236.7bn. However, the company saw its cost of production increase by 7.5 per ent to UZS93.5bn during the period. EBITDA fell by 34.1 per cent to UZS81bn. Kuvaysaycement produces sulphate-resistant Portland cement SSPTS 400 D20, Portland cement with mineral additive PC 400 D20 as well as Portland cement for the production of asbestos cement products.
