New plant commissioned in Uzbekistan

A new facility in Korauzyak district, Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan), has been commissioned, according to Trend News. The Uzbek-Chinese joint venture, Titan Cement, saw a total investment of UZS302.4bn (US$36.3m) in the 200,000tpa project. Furthermore, in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, a new US$630m project has begun construction with the support of Chinese companies.

Iran exports 7.65Mt of cement and clinker

Iran exported more than 7.65Mt of cement and clinker during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (21 March –22 October 2018). Exports amounted to a 10.2 per cent increase compared with the same period of last year. Abdolreza Sheikhan, the secretary of Iran's Cement Association said cement accounted for 3.8Mt of the exports. Gansu Hengya Cement is the investor behind Samarkand plant

Gansu Hengya Cement Company  of China is entering the Uzbekistan cement market. It plans to build a 2.4Mta cement plant in Samarkand, Kattakurgan district. The plant will cost US$420m and the project will be implemented in two stages. The first 1.2Mta kiln line will  be erected between 2018-20 at a cost of a US$220m. The second 1.2Mta line will be cosntructed between 2020-23. The works will produce cement types M-400, M-500, white and grey, plus M-600.

The foundation of a new cement plant has been laid in Kattakurgan district of Samarkand region, Uzbekistan. The two-stage project is expected to create 2.4Mta of capacity at an investment of US$420m. It has been planned in cooperation with Chinese investors, according to Uzbekistan National News. The first stage, taking place over the 2018-20 period, will realise 1.2Mta of capacity at a cost of US$220m. The second stage is expected to be implemented in 2020-23.

Kazakh producer increases cement exports to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan-based cement producer, SAS-Tobe Technologies, has increased its exports to Uzbekistan. As the first Kazakh manufacturer accredited by the Uzbek Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, it has sold 1500t of cement through the exchange in two months. The company plans to export more than 50 per cent of its products, about 0.25Mta, to Uzbekistan, according to Business World.

New plant announced for Uzbekistan

A new 1200tpd cement production facility has been announced by Sweden's ABA GTS group to be built in Angren, Uzbekistan. The project is expected to be completed by November 2019. At an event held to lay the foundations, the company recognised the growing need for housing, social and road infrastructure in the country. Therefore, the new plant will assist with the rising demand for building materials in the domestic market.

China National Building Materials (CNBM)

China National Building Materials (CNBM) is the main contractor on the upgrade project that recently got underway at Eurocement’s Akhangarancement plant at Akhangaransky in Uzbekistan. Eurocement Group has started the construction of its new 3Mta facility in Uzbekistan. Cement prices rise 25% in Uzbekistan

Cement prices in Uzbekistan have risen 24.7 per cent YoY in the first nine months of 2018, alongside an overall increase of 18.4 per cent in the price of building materials. Meanwhile, a decline in cement production within the country has been attributed to a price hike of around 60 per cent for gas and electricity for the construction industry.
