Vicem cement output rises 4.7% YoY

Vietnam government investment arm to divest in Yen Bai shareholding

The Vietnamese government’s investment arm, State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), plans to sell its entire 1.9 million shares of Yen Bai Cement and Minerals JSC (YBC) between 21 August and 19 September. SCIC currently holds a 40.6 per cent stake in YBC.  The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) cancelled the stock listing of YBC on 28 May 2014.

Vietnam sales up 8% in first seven months

Vietnam sold 37Mt of cement in the first seven months of this year, up eight per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 59.75 per cent of the whole-year target, the country's Ministry of Construction said. Vissai Ninh Binh Group exports 1.5Mt of clinker to France

Ciment de Bourbon has drawn up a contract with cement producer Vissai Ninh Binh Group, a private Vietnamese group, to receive 1.5Mt of clinker to facilitate the construction of  to an expressway project on Réunion. Vietnam cement production rises 6.5%

Vietnam produced 4.9Mt of cement in July, up 6.5 per cent from both June 2014 and from the year-ago period, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the first seven months, domestic output is likely to have increased by 4.6 per cent from a year ago to 33.6Mt. However, the GSO has revised down the country’s cement output in June to 4.6Mt from the earlier estimated figure of 5.4Mt.

Semen Indonesia has increased the amount it plans to spend on its next Vietnamese acquisition as it sets its sights on a higher-capacity purchase. Indonesia accounted for the largest share of Vietnam’s exports over the first five months of this year, according to data from the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. Indonesia imported 1.27Mt of cement and clinker from Vietnam, representing 12 per cent of sales over the January-May 2014 period. Vietnam: Long Son Cement project could get go ahead

Vietnamese deputy prime minister, Hoang Trung Hai, is considering a proposal from the Ministry of Construction to add the Long Son cement project in the central province of Thanh Hoa to the national master plan for the cement industry in the 2011-20 period, with a vision to 2030. Vietnam first-half cement output rises 7%

Vietnam produced 29.5Mt of cement in the first half of this year, up seven per cent YoY, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) has said. The figure includes 5.4Mt sold in June, up 19 per cent, the office added. The GSO has, however, revised down the country’s cement output in May to 5.4Mt from the earlier estimated figure of 5.5Mt. In 2013, Vietnam’s cement output hit 56.84Mt, according to the revised figure.

The corporation’s clinker output, however, fell by three per cent YoY to 6.63Mt in the period, meeting 38.4 per cent of the full-year target.
