Kuwait Portland Cement records 7% fall in profit

Kuwait Portland Cement has seen a 7.1 per cent YoY decline in attributable net profit to KWD1.3m (US$4.3m) in the 4Q20, compared with KWD1.4m in the year-ago period. Total operating revenue fell 46.6 per cent to KWD12.5m from KWD23.4m in the 4Q19.

Dangote Cement Plc has released its FY20 results, reporting group revenue up 16 per cent to NGN1034.2bn (US$2718.1bn) when compared with FY19. Group EBITDA totalled NGN71.3bn, up 49 per cent on FY19 and pan-African EBITDA reached a record NGN478.1bn. Group gross profit amounted to NGN596,226m, up 16.5 per cent from NGN511,682m in FY19. Vietnam's cement sales set to rise 2% in 1Q21

Vietnam is expected to sell 8.87Mt of cement in March, up 1.5 per cent YoY, according to the latest data from the Department of Building Materials under the Ministry of Construction. Paraguay-based Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) reported that the production of cement at its Vallemí plant is normalising at nearly 50,000 bags/day. Interoceanicos to build cement plant in Puno

Peru-based Cementos Interoceanicos has signed an agreement with Satarem to build a 1Mta cement and two lime plants in Puno, Peru, in the next 18 months. The cement producer expects to enter the area’s cement and lime markets in the next two years. The project represents an investment of US$158m. Satarem aims to have a 30 per cent stake in the shareholding of Cementos Interoceanicos as a result of the agreement.

Titan Cement is investing EUR25m at its Kamari cement plant, Viotia, Greece. The project will see a new precalciner in operation by 2022.   The modernisation will  reduce CO 2  emissions, contribute to the waste management solutions in Attiki, and increase the plant’s competitiveness.
