Peru cement market expands 12% YoY in December

Domestic dispatches in Peru increased 12 per cent YoY from 0.979Mt in December 2019 to 1.098Mt in December 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production advanced 18 per cent YoY in December 2020 as Asocem members produced 1.077Mt of cement. Output in December 2019 was 0.916Mt. Cement exports in December 2020 fell 36 per cent YoY to 12,000t from 19,000t in December 2019, but clinker exports surged from 33,000t in December 2019 to 105,000t in December 2020....

Cement sales in Brazil advance 17% in December

Cement sales in Brazil totalled 4.7Mt, up 16.6 per cent YoY, according to the National Union of the Cement Industry (SNIC). However, per working day, sales declined 13.2 per cent to 208,400t when compared with the previous month. SNIC attributes the fall to uncertainties in the economy and civil construction in 2021. Bolivian cement market expands 1% in October

Cement consumption in Bolivia edged up 0.8 per cent YoY to 382,944t in October 2020 from 379,781t in October 2019, according to Bolivia’s national statistics agency, INE. In the country’s largest market, La Paz, demand rose 12.1 per cent YoY to 101,185t while in Cochabamba, offtake was 2.9 per cent up YoY to 97,911t. Cement manufacturers in India have formed an association exclusively for southern India. Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has reported a one per cent increase in revenue to KZT30.96bn (US$73.59m) in its preliminary update for 2020. However, cement sales volumes declined 4.1 per cent YoY to 1.645Mt from 1.715Mt in 2019. The average ex-factory price in 2020 reached KZT15,760/t, compared with KZT14,885/t in the previous year. The Syrian Co for the Manufacture of Cement and Building Materials (Hama Cement) has reported 1.06Mt of cement production for 2020. Caribbean Cement Company (TCL/Cemex group) says it reached a new record in 2020 by manufacturing more than 940,000t of cement in response to market demand in Jamaica.  "The market responded opposite to what might have been expected given the pandemic.
