Sri Lanka sees production up 9% in 9M20

Sri Lanka has seen domestic cement production rise 28.7 per cent YoY to 375,000t in September. In August production was up by 17.4 per cent YoY to 392,000t. Overall, cement production increased 8.5 per cent to 2.82Mt in the first nine months of 2020, compared to 2.6Mt in the same period of last year. Cement consumption in Bolivia dropped 12.6 per cent YoY to 337,063t in September 2020 from 385,624t in September 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, INE. PPC sees EBITDA rise 15% in 1H20

South Africa-based PPC has seen its group revenue edge up one per cent to ZAR5.01bn (US$331.1m) in the half-year period ending 30 September 2020, compared to ZAR4.95bn in the 1H19. Chile's cement demand up 16% in October

Cement consumption in Chile increased 16.2 per cent to 392,688t in October 2020 from 337,959t in the previous year, according to the country’s construction chamber, CChC. When compared with the previous month, the market expanded 19.7 per cent from 328,184t in September 2020. In January-October 2020 period, domestic demand dropped 10.6 per cent to 3.043Mt from 3.401Mt in the 10M2019.

Uzbekistan sees 3% rise in production

Uzbekistan produced 8.8Mt of cement in the first 10 months of the 2020, up 2.6 per cent compared to the year-ago period. The largest volumes of cement were produced in the Tashkent region (46.7 per cent), followed by Navoi region (35.1 per cent) and Fergana region (12.8 per cent). The value of cement exported from Uzbekistan in the January-October period amounted to US$27.6m. Meanwhile, the value of cement imports reached US$105.5m.
