The gap to repay a EUR2.7bn bridge facility that supports HeidelbergCement's purchase of Italcementi is set to close, once the HeidelbergCement cashes in the sale of its Martinsburg cement plant. Holcim Indonesia sees sales volume grow by 21.1% in 1H16

PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk, part of the LafargeHolcim Group, noted that domestic sale prices of cement dipped 17 per cent in 1H16, but the company still achieved 11.5 per cent increase in sales revenues to IDR4.8tn (US$3.66m) and a 10 per cent improvement in absolute gross profit. Argentina reports upturn in cement demand in August

Cement dispatches in Argentina increased by 6.7 per cent YoY in August, according to preliminary figures published by the Argentine cement association, AFCP. The domestic market required the supply of 1,042,862t, up from 977,469t in August 2015. Argentine output was supplemented by 1.366Mt of imports, unlike the same period of the previous year when no imports entered the country. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in June 2016 were about 9.2Mt, up by 2.7 per cent from sales in June 2015, reports the US Geological Survey. Kohat Cement announced a profit after tax of PKR4.4bn (US$42.1m) for the financial year ending 30 June 2016, a 32.7 per cent increase from the PKR3.2bn achieved in the corresponding period last year. Cimpor's first-half turnover dropped by 31.1 per cent to EUR897.3m, while EBITDA declined by 39.1 per cent to EUR170.1m. The amortisation and provision charge jumped from EUR100.6m to EUR527.9m as a result of a EUR433m good-will impairment charge relating to Brazil. Lucky Cement's profits up 9.3%

As a result of an increase in turnover, Lucky Cement's full  year profits increased by 9.3 per cent. The company reported earnings of PKR16.15bn (US$154.67m) compared to PKR14.78bn for the same period last year. These results are in line with the market expectations. Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMSB) has announced its earnings figures for the first half of 2016, including those of its cement division. This recorded a pretax profit of MYR41.7m (US$10.2m) on revenues of MYR275m. CRH plc announces that its 1H16 sales increased by 35 per cent to EUR12.7bn and EBITDA more than doubled on the same period a year ago to EUR1.12bn. According to figures released by the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), cement demand in July was up slightly YoY, despite falling by 29 per cent compared to June, Indonesian Investments reports.
