The development of a sound environmental management system and employee engagement at work have provided significant changes to Votorantim Cimentos de Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul. In the last three years, the company has reduced by almost 60 per cent water consumption through reusing much of the spending volume in the production process. Peru cement market contracts 3.5% YoY in June

In June, Peruvian cement demand fell by 3.5 per cent YoY to 0.756Mt from 0.781Mt, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. Three new factories are due to open before the end of the year in Mozambique as the country's cement capacity is expanded from just over 2Mta to around 5.3Mta. Vietnam: cement and clinker sales reach 38.7Mt in 1H16

Vietnam's Building Material Department, under the Ministry of Construction, reports that cement producers in the country sold 38.7Mt of cement and clinker in the first half of this year, rising 12.4 per cent from a year earlier. Spain: consumption decreases 2.3% in 1H16

Cement sales in Spain slipped by 0.9 per cent to 1,048,116t while for 1H16 they fell 2.3 per cent to 5,525,720t. Algeria's CILAS saw the successful start-up of its new clinker production line with the ignition of the kiln on 10 July 2016, 11 days ahead of schedule, in the presence of Didier Michel, representing CILAS' parent company LafargeHolcim, and Wang Hui of contractor CBMI.
